  2. Why does my email bounce? What is the maximum size possible on outbound mails? How about inbound mail?

There are several reasons why emails bounce. Common reasons are:

    a. mailbox of the recepient is already full
    b. the recipients email address is incorrect or not existing
    c. your email is big and it exceeded the email size limit of the recipient's server
    d. your email exceeded your ISP's email size limit
    e. the server of the recipient is currently down
    f. the attachment contains virus, hence was banned by your or the recipient's server, or
    g. attachment extension or the subject of the email is resctricted and cannot be transmitted outside.

To find out why your email bounced, check the error message.

For your info, IEMC's email size limit is 5 MB. Therefore, your attachment should be lower than 5 MB for both inbound & outbound mail.

Should you need to send large attachment, you may use filesplitter or upload in your FC Homepage.

  3. Can I check my emails using other computers?

Yes. You may use any POP3 or IMAP mailclient to download or view your emails. Address of SMTP & POP3 server is given above. To check your mails through the web, type http://mail.emc.com.ph in your browser. In the login wizard, key in your FirstClass userID and password.

  4. How long does it take for an email to reach the recipient/s?

It only takes a couple of seconds for a plain text email to reach its destination. Slight delay maybe caused by internet traffic. Report to us any delayed email with the header of that email.

  5. How can I be sure my email reached my correspondent?

If you're using FirstClass, you'll know it was sent when there's a flying stamp beside the envelope icon. If there's no bounced mail that says otherwise, you can be sure it was transmitted.

  6. Why do mails get delayed?

Mails get delayed due to one of the following reasons.

    a. There's a problem in your ISP's mail server - EMC normally announces this when it happens.
    b. There's a problem in the recipient's server. Or, if you're the recipient, on the sender's server/ISP/network.
    c. If there's no problem on both servers, the delay may be caused by internet traffic or a problem in any of the network where the email message passed which is beyond the control of the recipient's/sender's ISP.

  7. Why does it takes so long to download emails?

Downloading of emails may be slow due to any of these reasons:

    a. you are downloading many mails
    b. you are downloading a large attachment
    c. your computer is busy processing other tasks
    d. your modem is in poor condition
    e. your connection is slow

  8. Why do I keep downloading the same emails?

Your POP3 email client may have been set to leave mails on the server so it keeps retrieving those you have already downloaded. To avoid this, you have to delete old mails stored in the email server by using First Class email client or by accessing your mailbox through the web.

You may also set your Outlook, Eudora or other POP3 email client not to leave mail on the server. Please contact Customer/Tech Support for further assistance.

  9. Why can't I read the attachment?

It may be because your computer does not have the program needed to read the attachment.

It may also be because the attachment got corrupted while being transmitted from one server to another. You will have to ask the sender to resend it.
