:: Network Interface Load Balancing
The Broadband Manager acts as a load balancing gateway which allows you to subscribe to multiple links to the Internet and fully utilize all links in both a redundant and failover capacity. It automatically detects link failures and implements predefined failover tasks in the event of the failure of one of the links.
:: Firewall
It can provide an extra-secure firewall layer, which shields all existing servers from exposure to hackers.
o stateful packet filtering (connection tracking)
o all kinds of network address translation
o flexible and extensible firewall infrastructure
o large number of additional features as patches
o use NAT and masquerading for sharing internet access
o use NAT for implementing transparent proxies
o aid the tc+iproute2 system used to build sophisticated QoS routers
o do further IP packet manipulation (mangling)
:: Virtual Private Networking
Using advanced SSL technology, DSL-Manager can create multiple virtual network tunnels through the Internet to other DSL Manager running the same built-in software feature. Users on different physical remote networks seem to be on the same logical LAN, and allows for the secure and convenient transfer of information between remote sites.
You can access your file server from home or anywhere on the road from your laptop!
:: Electronic Mail
It serves as a mail host or as a mail forwarder and and dutifully scans both incoming and outgoing mail for embedded viruses inside mail attachments. If a virus is found, an error notice is bounced back to sender.
Users can access mail using common mail clients such as Outlook & Outlook Express, Netscape Mail or Eudora which is also viewable via a web based interface, similar to Yahoo Mail or Hotmail. Emails can be viewed by users halfway around the world, using cyber cafe terminals or any PC with a browser and an internet connection.
It can act as a mail forwarder, making sure that email being forwarded is clean of viruses thereby and shielding internal mail servers from having to face the public internet.
:: Domain Name Services
DSL Manager comes with IP Domain Name Services which can act as both a DNS Cache or an Authoritative DNS Server.
:: Web and FTP Proxy
This includes sophisticated Web and FTP proxy-caching software that allows users access to the web using both the HTTP and FTP protocols. It also allows administrative control so that only authorized users are allowed access.
:: Network Activity Monitoring
All URLs being downloaded by users are silently kept in an SQL database for logging. Managers can then review the activity of each user.
:: Web Content Publishing
Broadband Manager comes with the popular Apache web server with preinstalled PHP and mod_perl/embedded perl extensions, as well as secure socket based connection capabilities. Using these technologies, one can build a variety of websites with both static and dynamic content. One DSL Manager can host thousands of websites, each with its own unique domain name and no need for additional IP addresses per website.
:: SQL Database Hosting
Broadband Manager includes MySQL and PostgresSQL so you can deploy fully functional applications ranging from simple E-commerce systems, or complex customer databases, all of which are accessible via a browser interface.
:: NT Domain Emulation
Broadband Manager allows Windows network clients to log on to the net thinking that it is a Windows NT server. It uses a common user database (shared with e-mail, ftp and other network passwords) so that users need not remember multiple passwords to access various network services.
:: IP Address Management
Broadband Manager provides flexibility and manageability of network using the DHCP protocol to standardize and centralize the allocation and reallocation of IP addresses.
:: Global Address Book
With built-in LDAP directory which automatically synchronizes the user base of the system and enables network users to use the Global Address Book facility of Outlook and Netscape mail clients, and provides a convenient way of looking up email addresses of other users in the network.
:: Network File Service
Broadband Manager provides basic file services and offers a secure and centralized file storage for network users.
:: Local Dialup Service
This feature is enabled when it is required for remote users to connect to the LAN allowing authorized persons or remote sites to use the internet resources or exchange information.
